Green Plains Completes Successful 12 Site Implementation with Dearman Systems

Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Green Plains is one of the largest ethanol producers in the United States. A leading ag-tech company, Green Plains has 1 billion gallons of production capacity of low carbon bio-fuels. 

Green Plains became a Dearman customer in 2024 when the company needed to quickly replace their metering and measurement software. Dearman stepped in and converted over all 12 sites in less than 1 year — matching all existing features providing additional functionality for enhanced operational efficiencies.

Through our terminal automation system software product Dearman provides Green Plains with loading control, access management, measurement, and reporting capabilities. Recently, we sat down with Brandon Ross, Transportation Manager at Green Plains Trade Group to discuss the implementation.

1. What made you decide to install Dearman Systems at your facilities?

   1. “Our previous system was at end of life. Dearman was a 1-1 replacement as far as functionality and cost. Came recommended from others in the bulk ag liquid space.”

2. How has Dearman Systems made your operations more efficient? What changed about your business/operations after installing Dearman software?

   1. “The loadout has become more secure with set sequences and security checks for operators and carriers/drivers.”

3. What do you consider to be the most useful module or feature of the Dearman terminal automation system?

   1. “We are working out of the Orders screen 90% of the time. So the speed and accuracy of that module is most important.”

4. How has Dearman’s UNITY product benefited your business? What job functions from your company utilize UNITY?

   1. “The main purpose of the Unity server for Green Plains is to aggregate all the information from the sites and send back into Allegro from a single source. On the other side, importing information into UNITY and it populating down to each individual site.”

5. What is the best part about working with Dearman?

   1. “Responsiveness of the customer service and development teams is far better than our previous offering. Quick to resolve issues and open to continuous improvement.”

6. What integrations do you have with the Dearman software?

   1. “12 sites are using the metering software, TAS and UNITY. All flow back into our ERP; Allegro.”
